Via Random Jottings, I see that The New Criterion has a forthcoming blog. Naturally, it's called Armavirumque. (Why didn't I think of that?)
I wonder if Corner denizen John Derbyshire or blog-reader Mark Steyn had anything to do with this.
And does anyone start a blog without borrowing Instapundit's blogroll? They could, at least, borrow mine.
Posted by oscarjr at April 15, 2003 01:51 AM | TrackBackYour blogroll is a hundred times better than the prof's, and I do think that it should be used as the standard.
And I'm not just saying that because I'm on yours, and not on his.
Okay, maybe I am.

That's all I meant, too. If he adds you (and Page), I'll stop complaining.

That seems a little harsh, though I think the Professor might agree.
That said, I concur with you, though you somehow omit mtpolitics.
Can't we all just agree upon mine?

Posted by: Oscar Jr. at 11:26 PMWhat? Reynolds will agree mine's better? Or that he's a dorkass?
I link people I think are interesting and people I actually read. For example, I'm not going to be such a jackass to link to Vodka (another dorkass) just to see if he'll link back. This is because I don't think he's all that witty, insightful or even remotely interesting. I will not link or read den Beste, because he's longwinded, has too much time on his hands, and bores the ever-loving crap out of me with his unpublished letters to the editor. That said, they both could (can) read my blog(s) and think the same things about me. That's fine. The simple fact that few bloggers realize is this: when it comes to blogrolling there is reciprocity and interesting. I tend to go with interesting over reciprocity. The blogs on my blogroll are there because I see something about the bloggers themselves, not because I agree with them politically, socially or morally. It's the voyeur in me.
In summary, the blogrolls are bullshit. I hardly ever get any hits from any blogger's blogroll. Because I'm as needy as the next blogger and the next, I do appreciate when someone "links" me. Again, I'm a blogger. But when it comes to blogrolling, please. Link what you read, for crying out loud. Not those you aim to please.
Posted by: page at 12:58 AMThe latter, of course.
Our blogrolling policies are the same, though I enjoy Reynolds, Vodkaman and Den Beste. My blogroll is essentially the same as the one I maintained at Mybookmarks.com for personal use in the pre-blog days. I have read and enjoyed (and continue to read as time allows) all of the sites thereon.
